27. Chandler and Janice
We have just three words to simultaneously make you cringe and explain why this was the worst couple ever on Friends. "Oh. My. Gawwwwwdddddddd." (Note: We love Janice. We really do. But we didn't like Chandler with Janice.)
26. Phoebe and Gary
Um, he shot a bird. While laying in bed with Phoebe. Who is one of the biggest animal lovers ever. So even though he was a hot cop who adored Phoebe, this was an immediate deal breaker.
25. Rachel and Barry
There's a reason why Rachel left Barry at the altar. Not only was he a cheating scumbag, but he also was a cheating scumbag who was cheating with Rachel's BFF Mindy! Nope nope nope.
24. Rachel and Russ
There was something about Russ that looked really familiar, but we can't figure out what it is...but regardless of that, he was just such a dud. Looks can only go so far!
23. Rachel and Paolo
Another case of looks only getting you so far. Paolo was a beautiful, beautiful Italian man, and he and Rachel had undeniable chemistry, but he could barely communicate with Rach. Plus, he made a pass at Phoebe, and that's just unforgiveable. Ciao, Paolo!
22. Ross and Emily
Ahem. "I take thee, Rachel..." So much cringing. So much cringing.
21. Ross and Carol
You can't deny that Ross and Carol made great parents to Ben, but there's just one tiny thing that got in the way of their relationship: Carol's a lesbian. And so kicks off Ross's laundry list of divorces.
20. Ross and Elizabeth
This relationship was doomed from the start. Not only was dating a student against the rules (and not just frowned upon, Ross), but she's just too young for you, bro!
19. Ross and Mona
We have to give major props to Mona, who started dating Ross at the most unfortunate time in his life...right when Rachel finds out she's pregnant with his kid. This led to so many hilarously awkward situations (um, Ross, you could have just asked for your key back instead of changing your locks), and with each one, we just felt more and more awful for poor Mona. She deserved so much better.
18. Monica and Fun Bobby
Turns out, Fun Bobby wasn't all that fun. He just drank. Like, a lot.
17. Rachel and Paul
Bruce Willis: hottest dad ever or hottest dad ever? Too bad he lost all his cool points with one single scene. Still, what a neat guy.
16. Joey and Kathy
Ugh, Kathy. She left Joey for Chandler! You do not get in between Joey and Chandler's bromance. Uh uh. Not cool.
15. Chandler and Kathy
Seriously, Kathy was just the worsttt. Nope nope nope.
14. Monica and Richard's son Timothy
Okay, this couple was just all kinds of wrong. No matter how hot Michael Vartan is (and oh, he is), knowing that Timothy was Richard's son was just so, so weird. If Monica and Timothy had kids, they would have been able to say their mom hooked up with their dad and grandpa. That'd be one messed up family tree.
13. Ross and Julie
It's not Julie's fault that we don't like her. In fact, in any other situation we'd probably love her, since she was a nice girl who worked well with Ross. But her timing was horrible. We'll never forgive her for walking off the plane with Ross right when Rachel was about to profess her love for him. Just heartbreaking.
12. Monica and Pete
Monica and Pete's relationship started off a little creepy (anyone else still get nightmares about him smelling her hair?!) but in the end, he was a sweet guy with maybe a little too much extra cash to burn. Too bad he loved fighting in cage matches more than he loved not having a body full of broken bones.
11. Phoebe and David
David was such a sweetheart, and he loved Phoebe with all his heart. But this dorky scientist had another love in his life that ultimately got in the way of his relationship with Phoebe...Minsk. Or rather, his work in Minsk.
10. Ross and Charlie
After briefly dating Joey, Charlie realized that she had way more in common with Ross during the eventful Barbados trip (you know, the one where Joey and Rachel were hooking up in one room, Charlie and Ross were hooking up in another, and Chandler, Monica and Phoebe were listening to both through the walls!). But we'll still never forgive Charlie for how she ended things with Ross, ditching him when her ex revealed he still had feelings for her.
9. Ross and Rachel
Ross and Rachel's continously on-and-off-and-on-again love affair lasted throughout the entire series, giving Friends fans enough iconic quotes to fill a book ("We were on a break!" "He's her lobster!" "I got off the plane!"). But if we're being honest, they're not the best couple on Friends. Not by a long shot. 8. Rachel and Tag
The only thing wrong with Rachel and Tag's relationship? His age. The 24-year-old wasn't ready for a serious relationship, and that's why Rachel broke up with him on her 30th birthday. And in a case of the absolute worst timing, he later tried to get back together with her but she was already pregnant with Ross's baby, scaring Tag off for good. Goodbye, Tag, we'll miss your beautiful, beautiful hair!
7. Ross and Marcel
Marcel was more than just Ross's pet. He was also Ross's best friend! There was nothing cuter than seeing Marcel hop on Ross's shoulders, or dancing along to "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." He was just the greatest monkey.
6. Carol and Susan
It took a threesome with Ross to make Carol realize she was a lesbian, and once she did, she lived happily ever after with her wife Susan. These two were amazing moms to Ben, and even put up with Ross with a patience we never knew possible.
5. Monica and Richard
Despite their age difference, Monica and Richard were amazing together...minus that tiny little detail that Richard didn't want to have any more kids. Plus, that mustache. Insta-cool points right there.
4. Rachel and Joey
Okay, we know we're going to face major heat for ranking Rachel and Joey higher than Rachel and Ross (even from our colleagues who don't agree with us!). But even though Ross loved Rachel forever, we loved seeing how Rach brought out Joey's sweet and emotional side, something that we had never seen from the playboy before. And let's be honest, Rachel and Joey have way more in common: they don't take life so seriously, they both giggle when they hear "homo erectus," and they both go after what they want. Plus, how heartwarming was it watching Joey step up and help Rachel take care of Emma? Excuse us while we swoon.
