1. Leslie Knope, Parks and Recreation

Why: The hardest-working, most loving and most beloved comedy character is somebody we all should aspire to be like. Well, maybe not in every way, but Leslie is pretty darn near amazing…and a little scary in her dedication. "She never gave up," says creator Mike Schur. And we love her for it.

Words to Live By: "We need to remember what's important in life: friends, waffles, work. Or waffles, friends, work. Doesn't matter, but work is third."

3. Peggy Carter, Agent Carter

Why: In a world filled with men who are determined to marginalize women, Peggy Carter will fight her way to equality, using her brains, her wit, her emotions, and her kickass fighting skills every step of the way. When Peggy talks, YOU LISTEN.

Words to Live By: "I know my value. Anyone else's opinion doesn't really matter."

6. Annalise Keating, How to Get Away With Murder

Why: Wonderfully flawed and fiercely smart, Annalise does what needs to get the job done…even if it means helping cover up her husband's murder. But let's be honest, we wouldn't be so in her corner if it weren't for Viola Davis' fearless performance.
Words to Live By: "You call it crazy. I call it winning." We call it HELL YASSS.

7. Alicia Florrick, The Good Wife

Why: Saint Alicia to some, Julianna Margulies' character is one of the most human on TV. She is flawed, and knows it, but that doesn't stop her from doing what she thinks is best. She does more with a look than most TV characters do in a season.

Words to Live By: "I've decided life's too short not to be honest."

11. Abbie Mills, Sleepy Hollow

12. The kickass women of The 100

Why: Look around, the only male leader is the evil villain! Every other leader on this groundbreaking show is a female, and rightly so, since all the males keep making the worst choices, leaving all the strong, brave and fierce women to pick up the pieces and try to forge peace. And when peace talks fall through, they'll be leading their armies into battle. We'd follow them anywhere...even to the City of Light.

Words to Live By: "Either you get up and fight this or you crawl away and die alone like a coward," Octavia giving some tough love to Lincoln.
