Everyone's a Suspect

Quantico's been billed as Homeland meets Grey's Anatomy—and its premiere has left us with one of the biggest mysteries of the new fall season: Just who betrayed their country and is behind the biggest terrorist attack on American soil since 9/11?! To help make sense of this, we asked show creator Josh Safran to weigh in on what might make each of the shady cast of characters the traitor in question and then we ranked them based on how guilty they seem. Click through to see which of the suspects we feel is most likely to be behind the attack!

8. Alex Parrish (Priyanka Chopra)

What Josh Safran says: "She could be the traitor because the tragedy in her family's past could have turned her against the American government."

What we think: While it would be a totally ballsy move to make your main character the eventual culprit, we're feeling safe placing her dead last here. Alex was just way too stunned by how she'd been framed for the attack to seem as though she had any actual involvement.

7. Miranda Shaw (Aunjanue Ellis)

What Josh Safran says: "She's always put her career first and not gotten as far to show for it as she should have."

What we think: If Miranda was behind the attack and framed Alex for it, why would she help Alex escape? Doesn't add up. Now, her son on the other hand...

6. Ryan Booth (Jake McLaughlin)

What Josh Safran says: "As a former Marine, he could've turned against America after witnessing the horrors of war."

What we think: Ryan's been protecting Alex this entire time, so unless we're up for one whammy of a double-cross, he's not likely our traitor.

5. Nimah Amin (Yasmine Al Massri)

What Josh Safran says: "She's very pro-America as an American, but she has been potentially profiled and mistreated in spite of her being an American and that might have turned her against America."

What we think: Now that we know that Nimah and Raina are an experiment with the FBI, these twins seem a LOT less shady.

4. Caleb Haas (Graham Rogers)

What Josh Safran says: "Insecurities and inadequacies that he feels within himself as the black sheep of a very political family could have turned him against the country."

What we think: Caleb's got enough issues and connections that he could've pulled this off, but he doesn't seem the most likely candidate. Not yet.

3. Simon Asher (Tate Ellington)

What Josh Safran says: "Maybe his experience in Gaza turned him to a different point of view."

What we think: Simon's secret time in Gaza is suspicious, as is his pretend boyfriend. Is he even really gay? And now he's a secret double agent? He did help Alex evade capture, though. So, we can't have him too close to the top of our list.

2. Shelby Wyatt (Johanna Braddy)

What Josh Safran says: "After her parents died in 9/11, maybe she never fully believed the official narrative of [the attack.]"

What we think: Who is Shelby wiring millions to? Why can the wire in Alex's apartment be traced back to her company? What actually happened to her parents? This girl's got some explaining to do.

1. Liam O'Connor (Josh Hopkins)

What Josh Safran says: "Liam has spent his entire career working very hard for the government and also has found himself at the short end of the stick more often than not."

What we think: We already know he was having Ryan follow Alex's every move. Collecting intel to frame her down the road? Add in his career dissatisfaction, his secret past with her dad, and the way he's screwing with Booth to get what he wants? This guy screams traitor.
