Denis O'Hare's No. 4. Larry, AHS: Murder House
An adulterer who ultimately punished himself for his actions. Good on ya, Larry.
Denis O'Hare's No. 3. Dr. Elias Cunningham (Reenactment), AHS: Roanoke
Elias mostly existed to explain to Matt and Shelby (and us) just what the heck was going on before getting killed himself. At least he got in a good, creepy video to freak everyone out in the beginning of the season.
Denis O'Hare's No. 2. Spalding, AHS: Coven
So dedicated, so creepy. Denis O'Hare brought tiny baby doll hands to set just 'cause.
Denis O'Hare's No. 1. Liz Taylor, AHS: Hotel
Fierce and fabulous, this was O'Hare's meatiest role to date and one we'll never forget.
Angela Bassett's No. 5. Lee Harris (Reenactment), AHS: Roanoke
Angela Bassett's version of Lee (which was really her version of Monet's version of Lee—Roanoke was complicated) was a bit one note, at least compared to Adina Porter's real-life Lee.
Angela Bassett's No. 3. Desiree Dupree, AHS: Freak Show
She had three boobs and was maybe possibly a hermaphrodite, but Desiree was Angela Bassett's least likeable character.
Angela Bassett's No. 2. Ramona Royale, AHS: Hotel
A Pam Grier-esque 1970s actress, Ramona became one of The Countess' lovers and eventually got the vampire-y virus. She decided it was time to get revenge on her former lover and looked fabulous doing it.
Kathy Bates' No. 5. Ethel, AHS: Freak Show
That accent! Kathy Bates is better than that.
Kathy Bates' No. 4. The Butcher (Reenactment), AHS: Roanoke
Another wacky accent for Ms. Bates, but at least this one was supposed to be questionable, considering the meta layers at play here. Think about it: This was Bates playing Agnes Mary Winstead, unstable actress, playing Tomasin White, the Butcher. It's enough to make your brain wrinkle.
Kathy Bates' No. 2. Agnes Mary Winstead, AHS: Roanoke
Bates was hilarious and sad as the completely unhinged Agnes, a delusional actress who let the Butcher consume her waking life, killing people left and right—until the real Butcher took her cleaver to Agnes' face.
Kathy Bates' No. 1. Madame LaLaurie, AHS: Coven
Hey, she was really awful. We know that, but she was so entertaining, with or without a body. One word for you: "Lieeeeesssssssss."
Frances Conroy's No. 5. Gloria Mott, AHS: Freak Show
Underused and underdeveloped, she was a pretty bad mom.
Frances Conroy's No. 4. Bebe Babbitt, AHS: Cult
Bebe's motivations in propping Kai up to power never made that much sense, but we love any opportunity to watch Conroy get her crazy on.
Frances Conroy's No. 2. Angel of Death, AHS: Asylum
Conroy played two characters, technically, but the what a breathtaking image she was as the Angel of Death.
Frances Conroy's No. 1. Myrtle Snow, AHS: Coven
One word to describe Coven's Myrtle Snow: Iconic.
Evan Peters' No. 6. Mr. March, AHS: Hotel
Mr. March was psychotic and dapper at the same time.
Evan Peters' No. 5. Edward Philippe Mott, AHS: Roanoke
Peters' version of Freak Show's Dandy Mott's ancestor had the same meta wrinkle as many of his Roanoke counterparts, but we couldn't help but love the petulant, gay art lover. Our only complaint? We wish we had a little more time with him.
