40. Alex (Justin Chambers) & Lexie (Chyler Leigh), Grey's Anatomy
Alex and Lexie's fling was cute, but it was just that—a fling. Both of their hearts belonged to others, and they knew that.
39. Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) & Finn (Chris O'Donnell), Grey's Anatomy
Ah, Finn the hot vet. Meredith was never meant to be with him, no matter how cute he was—and we all knew that. But his presence was cause for Meredith's threesome fantasy that involved Finn and Derek, and for that we're forever grateful.
37. Jackson (Jesse Williams) & Stephanie (Jerrika Hinton), Grey's Anatomy
Poor Stephanie. Jackson used her to try and get over April and, well, we all know how well that worked. (Spoiler: Not well at all.)
36. April (Sarah Drew) & Matthew (Justin Bruening), Grey's Anatomy
You guys, April left Matthew at the damn altar to run off with Jackson. Sometimes, true love is cold as hell.
34. Annalise (Viola Davis) & Eve (Famke Janssen), How to Get Away With Murder
Sure, Annalise's sexual fluidity came out of nowhere. And yes, they seem to have a shady past. But her relationship with Eve is still her healthiest one to date—as far as we know.
33. Violet (Amy Brenneman) & Scott (Stephen Amell), Private Practice
Violet's relationship with the very hot, and slightly younger, Scott couldn't last because she wasn't really over Pete. (Also, Stephen Amell had to go and start filming a little show called Arrow.)
31. Alex (Justin Chambers) & Izzie (Katherine Heigl), Grey's Anatomy
These two seemed like endgame, but behind-the-scenes drama (aka Heigl's departure from the series) forced their relationship to end. Oh what might have been!
30. Cristina (Sandra Oh) & Owen (Kevin McKidd), Grey's Anatomy
Is putting these two this low controversial? Maybe. But they never saw eye-to-eye on any of life's major decisions and, ultimately, really didn't belong together.
28. Richard (James Pickens Jr.) & Catherine (Debbie Allen), Grey's Anatomy
Richard had been through the ringer before he met Catherine. It's adorable how she brought him love late in life, even if they do bicker just a tad too much for our taste.
27. Jackson (Jesse Williams) & April (Sarah Drew), Grey's Anatomy
A cautionary tale about what happens after you impulsively decide to leave someone at the altar. It's been all downhill for these two after April hastily chose Jackson over Matthew, but they still seem determined to make it work. Bless 'em.
25. Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) & James (Matt Long), Private Practice
Amelia was solid with James at the end of Private Practice, but when she showed up in Seattle a little while later to join the cast of Grey's, she was single. And that was a shame because James seemed to be the stability she needed.
24. Naomi (Audra McDonald) & Fife (Michael Patrick Thornton), Private Practice
Fife and Naomi seemed so perfect together when she followed him to New York at the end of season four, newly engaged. Their relationship was something rarely seen on TV, as he was confined to a wheelchair, lending an importance to the pairing. Sadly, it was undone when she returned for the series finale, but it was lovely while it lasted.
22. Owen (Kevin McKidd) & Amelia (Caterina Scorsone), Grey's Anatomy
These two wounded birds might actually be good for one another, if only they'd just stop pushing each other away under the pretense of keeping it casual.
21. Addison (Kate Walsh) & Jake (Benjamin Bratt), Private Practice
Addison got her happy ending with Jake, marrying him as the series came to an end. But given that he was added to the show very late in its run, we didn't get as much time to fully invest in Jake as we would've liked.
19. Laurel (Karla Souza) & Frank (Charlie Weber), How to Get Away With Murder
What first began as animal attraction has slowly given way to real affection between these two. He even brought her home for dinner with his family! If only all the murder would stop getting in everyone's way.
18. Leo (Paul Adelstein) & Abby (Darby Stanchfield), Scandal
There's a breezy chemistry between these two that makes us happy when we see them together. They'd be a little higher on this list if it wasn't for the very next slide...
