Do: Try matching a pair of jeans with a coat (or jacket), as seen here on Selena. Celebs the world over have been doubling up on their denim, creating what we call a denim-on-denim look. It's a tricky trend, but done right, it can really pay off.
Rita Ora
Don't: Busy up your look with too many statement pieces. Let the focus be on the denim. If there's one thing every stylist knows, it's that sometimes bad denim happens to good people. Search for denim that fits you well and is flattering.
Khloe Kardashian
Do: Pair a high-waisted denim skirt with a denim button-down and some flirty heels for a dressed up take on the trend. Just because it's denim doesn't necessarily mean it's sloppy. Elevated denim is quickly becoming everyone's favorite answer to the age-old day-to-night dilemma.

Do: Opt for denim frocks. When a dress collides with denim you end up with the best of both worlds. It's super comfortable AND there's no waistband! There's something undeniably feminine and chic about a denim dress—this look could charm the pants off James Dean himself.

Don't: Go crazy with denim add-ons. Leave it to Rihanna to reverse engineer jeans into a pair of $4,000 waist-high boots! Bless her, I think she's the only person in the world who could pull this off. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of denim accessories because they generally come off a bit kitschy.

Do: Give your culottes a denim upgrade and throw on a matching crop top if you dare! Dakota shows us that there's no limit to the imagination when it comes to thinking outside the style box.

Embellished Denim
With the '90s coming back in full swing, it's no surprise that designers have looked to ramp up denim with dazzling embellishments and patches. This season is all about celebrating individuality, so don't be afraid to break out those DIY skills. Pile it on or keep it simple. My recommendation is that you focus on one statement piece rather than covering yourself head to toe. The '90s are calling and you'd better answer that pink, plastic Dream Phone.
Florence Welch
Do: Bring out your inner flower power this season with floral embellishments! I love this embroidered look on Florence because it's playful but still incredibly chic and grown-up. Embroidery is a safe bet since it's much easier to pull off than beads or sequins.

Don't: Let your creativity and enthusiasm get the best of you. Restraint is crucial when it comes to this trend, like they always say "less is more." Keep your look balanced and don't turn it into a costume by adding in too many eye-catching elements.

Do: Go all out with a splattering of iron-on patches, if you're up for something a little more playfu! These look great on an oversized denim jacket or a pair of boyfriend jeans. Keep it casual by throwing on white sneakers and a simple tee or sweater.
