10 Fantasy Worlds We Would Love To Visit
One of the many reasons we fall in love with the fantasy genre is that the stories help us escape the stress of our regular lives and lure us into unknown worlds that soon become familiar homes featuring our favorite fictional characters. Here are some fantasy worlds that we wouldn't mind spending a few hours (or forever) in.
Hogwarts, Harry Potter
For any Harry Potter fan, receiving a letter from Hogwarts was the ultimate dream. Once you're in, you get to put on the legendary Sorting Hat, attend classes from world-famous professors and maybe even venture off to Hogsmeade for a few Butterbeers.
Fillory, The Magicians
Season one of the Syfy TV series, based on author Lev Grossman's novels of the same name, began with the protagonists at wizarding college Brakebills. But by the end of the season, the students find a way into Fillory, a land thought to only exist in a popular children's book. In season two, which premieres on January 25th, the wizards not only explore Fillory, but end up becoming the kings and queens of the magical land, which isn't an entirely bad way to spend your time in a fantastical realm.
Sunnydale, Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Because who wouldn't want to visit The Magic Box or spend a night out at The Bronze with the Scooby Gang? Well at least before, you know, Sunnydale crumbled into complete shambles by the end of the series.
Narnia, The Chronicles of Narnia
It's The Chronic (What?) -cles of Narnia! The fictional realm is the center of C.S. Lewis' classic children's book series, filled with magic, mythical beasts a myriad of adventures. The only downside was that every kid who attempted to enter Narnia through their closet may not have had the same luck as the Pevensies.
Land of Oz, Wizard of Oz
Wizards and witches and munchkins, oh my! Whether you loved the original L. Frank Baum novel, the classic film starring Judy Garland, or still attempt to defy gravity with Wicked, the Land of Oz has always been a magical and mysterious place worth visiting by way of that yellow brick road.
Storybrooke, Once Upon a Time
Storybrooke, the hidden gem of Maine, is so quaint it's like living in a fairy tale. Or rather, it's a seaside town where fairy tale characters actually live. Just think about the epic selfie you could take with its inhabitants - Emma, Goldilocks, Aladdin, Tinker Bell, and Bo Peep all in one shot? Pure magic.
