James Ingram

The two-time Grammy winner died at the age of 66. His cause and date of death are not yet known. Ingram's close friend Debbie Allen posted about the news on Twitter. "I have lost my dearest friend and creative partner James Ingram to the Celestial Choir," she wrote. "He will always be cherished, loved and remembered for his genius, his love of family and his humanity. I am blessed to have been so close. We will forever speak his name."

Weeks before her 98th birthday, the beloved Broadway actress—known for her starring roles in Hello, Dolly!, Lorelei and Thoroughly Modern Millie—died of natural causes at her home in Rancho Mirage, Calif. According to Channing's publicists, she had suffered two strokes in the last year.

Verna Bloom

Born Aug. 7, 1938 in Lynn, Mass., the actress was best known for her role as Marion Wormer in the 1978 comedy classic National Lampoon's Animal House. She died Jan. 9 at age 80 due to complications of dementia, her family said. She is survived by husband Jay Cocks and son Sam Cocks.

William Morgan Sheppard

Born in 1932, the British actor graduated from the Royal Academy Drama of Art in 1958. He then served 12 years as an associate artist with the Royal Shakespeare Company and appeared in Broadway productions of Marat/Sade and Sherlock Holmes. Sheppard, who died Jan. 6 at age 86, is perhaps best known for his various roles in Star Trek as Rura Penth commandant, the chief Vulcan Science Council minister, Data's "grandfather" Ira Graves and Quatai.

One half of popular '70s duo The Captain & Tennille, Dragon died of renal failure Jan. 3 at age 76. "He was a brilliant musician with many friends who loved him greatly," Toni Tennille, who was at Dragon's side when he passed away, said in a statement. "I was at my most creative in my life when I was with him."
