What a night for Schitt's Creek!
The hit comedy, created by father-son creative team and co-stars Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, swept the 2020 Emmys as it nabbed seven trophies on Sunday and nine total this year. Not only did every main cast member win their categories, which is a historic accomplishment itself, but the show also took home the award for Outstanding Comedy Series. These wins have set a new Emmys record for most wins in a single year for a comedy series.
Also, Schitt's Creek just beat out Frasier for most wins for a comedy series in its last season.
Celebrating Diversity

11 Black performers nabbed performance awards at the 2020 Emmys. The celebrated Black performs at this year's award show included Uzo Aduba, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Laurence Fishburne and more.
Youngest Lead Actress in a Drama Winner
Not only does this Emmy win mark Zendaya's first Emmy Award, but the Euphoria actress has also become the youngest woman ever to win the trophy for Lead Actress in a Drama.
The former Disney darling, who turned 24 earlier this month, broke Killing Eve actress Jodie Comer's record, who was 26 when she won her first Emmy last year.
A Notable Win
At the 2020 Emmys, Watchmen earned the Outstanding Limited Series prize.
According to Variety, this is the first time a comic-book adaptation has nabbed a top trophy at the Primetime Emmy Awards.
A Virtual Show
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 Emmys had to transform the typically star-studded affair into a virtual show. With host Jimmy Kimmel at the helm, more than a hundred camera feeds were set up to come into the Staples Center from various locations, including celebrities' homes.
Breaking His Own Record
During the 2020 Creative Arts Emmys, Norman Lear won an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for Live in Front of a Studio Audience: "All In The Family" And "Good Times," which he executive produced. This win made Norman, who is 98, the oldest Emmy winner in history.
He beat his own record, since he previously won an Emmy in 2019 in the same category.
Breaking a Major Record
At the 2020 Creative Arts Emmys, RuPaul broke a major record for winning Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program for the fifth year in a row. This marked the most wins in the category's 13-year history.
"Welcome to the main stage of RuPaul's Drag Race," the 59-year-old legendary drag queen stated in his acceptance speech. "On behalf of VH1, World of Wonder and our incredible cast and crew, I want to thank the Academy for this great honor."
Father-Daughter Duo Make Emmys History
Big wins for the Cephas Jones family.
At the Creative Arts Emmys, Ron Cephas Jones took home the Guest Actor in a Drama Series award for the second time for his work in This Is Us. However, his daughter, Jasmine, also walked away an Emmy winner as she won the Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series award.
This marked the first time a father-daughter duo won an Emmy Award in the same year.
Eddie's First Emmy
40 years after gracing the Saturday Night Live stage with his comedic chops, Eddie Murphy has finally earned a Primetime Emmy.
As E! readers may recall, Eddie served as a SNL cast member between 1980 and 1984 and hosted the NBC variety show for the first time in 35 years on Dec. 21, 2019.
"Thank you to everybody at the Emmys. Thank you so much for giving me an Emmy," the Dolemite is My Name star stated. "I don't have an Emmy. This is 40 years since I started Saturday Night Live, this is my first Emmy, so thank you so much."
A Nomination to Remember
Just by being nominated Sandra Oh has made Emmys history.
For the 2020 Emmys, Sandra nabbed her third straight Emmys nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her work in Killing Eve. Throughout her career, Sandra has been nominated for 12 Primetime Emmy Awards.
This latest nomination once more cemented the Killing Eve actress as the most nominated Asian artist in Emmys history.
