Tehila Levi appears at the Miss Universe competition's preliminary costume contest. She later explained in a video on her Instagram Stories that she did not participate in the evening gown event because she abstains from work on the Sabbath (Friday evening to Saturday evening—a day of religious observance for devout Jewish people). The contest took place after sundown.
"It was my choice to do that this way," she said. "I just want you to know, guys, that this is my religion and the judge is going to see a video of me walking with my evening gown."
