The Today show anchor surprised viewers when she hosted the Dec. 21 with dark brown tresses, admitting her hair transformation was a "happy accident."
The 57-year-old, who usually sports light brown tresses, explained that her new hue was actually supposed to be a keratin treatment in preparation for the holidays.
"It just takes the frizz out so I'm like, 'I'll do that early, I'm gonna be on it,'" Kotb said, adding that she did an at-home treatment because her salon was closed.
But three hours after starting the process, Kotb said, "I got up and it was like it was like fire-engine orange. Like Bozo orange. I looked, and I go 'What happened?'" She later joked she looked like "an orange Q-tip."
Believing it "was something funky with the chemicals," Kotb said her stylist was able to fix the sitch, which lead to her gorgeous new brunette look.
Zendaya
Just days after she left the world speechless in a custom Valentino gown at the L.A. premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Zendaya slayed us all once again with a bold new look.
On Dec. 16, the 25-year-old actress posted a photo of herself on her Instagram Story sporting an auburn bob. She also took a moment to explain her decision to cut the length of her hair, captioning the photo, "it was time for a change."
Zendaya has been known to change up her hair and was last seen earlier this week sporting a wavy brown hairstyle and length similar to her Spider-Man character Michelle Jones-Watson. Now, the Euphoria star looks like a dead ringer for her comic book counterpart, Mary Jane Watson, with her new red hair.

Schwarzenegger took to his Instagram Story on Dec. 16 to show off his freshly dyed hair, revealing he went platinum blonde for the holidays.
"Switch up" the 28-year-old actor captioned a video of hairstylist Sierra Kener washing his blonde locks, later showing off his new look from various angles, joking, "Moms gonna kill me."
But, it turned out, he should have been more concerned about his sister Katherine Schwarzenegger's reaction as the pregnant podcast host wrote, "Not unless i get my hands on you first." Yikes!
Fortunately, Schwarzenegger had nothing to worry about, as his mother, Maria Shriver, commented with a heart emoji, "you look great with any hair color."
Reese Witherspoon
This is no big little lie: Witherspoon's new look is a total throwback!
The Sing 2 star debuted side-swept bangs on her hairstylist Cervando Maldonado's Instagram page on Dec. 16.
"Under the mistletoe with cutie @reesewitherspoon," Maldonado captioned the cute selfie with his client, who has previously rocked a similar choppy fringe.
The 45-year-old Oscar winner actually considered returning to the look over the summer, when she posted a pic with her look-alike daughter Ava Phillippe after the 21-year-old had just gotten the curtain cut. Like mother, like daughter!

While the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star may not be totally feeling her new bangs, we are definitely here for her wispy '70s style.
Bennet took to Instagram on Dec. 17 to show off her face-framing fringe, with the 29-year-old actress writing, "holiday glam looks for an anxious bang lady! ayyooo."

The He's All That star was feeling festive, choosing to dye her hair green ahead of the holidays. The 21-year-old first added blue streaks to her tresses last week, posting a selfie with the freezing emoji, with the color now fading into a perfect-for-Christmas hue.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye "Ye" West's oldest daughter got into the holiday spirit in a series of TikTok videos on Dec. 20, showing off her impressive makeup skills before channeling everyone's favorite Christmas curmudgeon, the Grinch.
The first clip, set to Gene Autry's "Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer," featured the 8-year-old painting her face to resemble Santa's beloved helper from the popular holiday song. She paired her take on Rudolph's signature red nose with crimson-colored eyeshadow and silver glitter.
North then gave fans a close-up look at her glam—and comedy chops!—when she lip-synced to a vocal track of Jim Carrey's hilarious monologue from 2000's How the Grinch Stole Christmas in another video.
