Kody Brown Lost His Virginity in College

In the show's Jan. 5 episode, Kody revealed he studied more than just academics while at university. "I had a lover in college, and it was a little tryst," he shared. "I was a naughty boy based on my faith."

And making the choice to lose his virginity before marriage "was heartbreaking," he added. "When purity is everything in the church I was in, that was everything. It's like you're working your way back for it. It was devastating."

But not major enough to share with all of his wives. "Nobody knew except for Meri and Robyn," he said, "and it was really because I don't believe I ever got intimate enough with Christine and Janelle to tell them. Robyn learned of it the first month we knew each other. I felt safe."

Meri Brown Suggests the Family Finances Weren't Divided Evenly

Forget love, Meri has questions about how the family finances were divided. Because while the founder of Lizzie's Heritage Inn very much contributed to the accounts she once shared with Kody and his fellow wives, she didn't exactly reap the rewards.

"Those family funds that I helped with went to kids’ college, went to property," she recounted in a chat with pal Jenn Sullivan on the Jan. 19 episode. "It went to everything."

Well, almost everything.

Because, as Meri then revealed, she shelled out the money herself for her only child, Leon, to attend Utah's Westminster College and she was also the driving force behind Leon's car payments.

"I really don't know how much of the family fund actually paid for other kids’ school or cars," Meri acknowledged of the other 17 children she shared with Kody and her fellow sister wives, "but I know that my kiddo’s school was not taken care of from the family fund."

She also took umbrage with how their Coyote Pass property was divided, with Kody's name on every parcel.

"I remember getting in trouble for asking the question when we were still living in Las Vegas and I found out that's how the property was divided," she detailed to host Sukanya Krishnan during the one-on-one special June 8. Bringing the issue to Kody and Robyn, she continued, "I got in trouble. It's like, 'Why are you checking up on it?'"

And she wasn't alone. As Janelle noted to Sukanya, "I would ask him about the property, and he would always get mad."

Kody Brown Refuses to Cut Off Robyn Brown

Though Kody insisted on the Jan. 12 episode that he was eager to repair his fractured bond with many of his adult kids, there was one non-negotiable. As he explained, "I will not cut off Robyn to have a relationship with my children."

Assuming that his kids' feelings toward his fourth wife were the reason they weren't getting along, he added, "My children will always be my children and the door will always be open to them. They've got to come through that door. I'm going to be holding a hand out for that, but I'm going to be holding this hand that's next to me, and I won't let go of that hand."

Janelle Brown Preferred Her Nights Without Kody Brown

Though Kody was eager for his love to be multiplied, he wasn't the best at dividing his time, revealing on the Feb. 2 episode, "I was flying by the seat of my pants most of the time."

"I've seen other people who are much more well-organized, with flexibility," he added. "And I've seen people who are just completely rigid, you know, where there is no flexibility. I've known polygamists who wouldn't even stay with his wife on her birthday because it was out of the sync of the schedule."

Ultimately, he acknowledged, his approach may have been faulty.

"For me," he shared, "I believe in retrospect that my style of living plural marriage was a little bit too flexible."

Three out of three of his ex-wives would agree, with Janelle and Christine noting he was particularly disorganized when it came to travel. Said Christine, "I remember we'd get to hotels always and he never would say where he was going to stay. We never knew."

That's the part that grated on Meri. "I'm a planner," she explained. "Like, I want to know what to expect. And I just very often wouldn't get that kind of respect, you know, to even know. And he would just, like, show up."

And while his sole remaining wife Robyn said she was unbothered by the randomness ("I was okay if he wasn't there and I was okay if he was there"), Janelle honestly preferred him to stay away.

"I used to dread when he would stay with me because it's such a disruption," she confessed to Christine. "I just want to have my own space."

The Family's Approach to Alcohol Has Changed

Though Janelle shared that when she was growing up in church, "We didn't drink alcohol, we didn't drink coffee," the family's teetotaling days are officially over.

"I guess as the years went by, we sort of started slowly, kind of stepping away," she explained on the Feb. 2 episode. "First we had some wine on Friday night when we were all together, or we'd have a glass of wine when we were out. I think as we got further and further away from our congregation, it just started to sort of come into the family. It just started to creep in."

Which is how Janelle found herself sampling her first shot when out with Christine and David. Still, she doesn't anticipate becoming a regular at her local watering hole.

"Christine enjoys having a drink," Janelle detailed. "I don’t know about Meri. I haven’t really been around her very much. And I know Kody likes having a drink, but just never my thing."

Christine Brown Woolley Felt Kody Brown Was Constantly Comparing His Wives

If comparison is the thief of joy, no wonder Christine often felt sad in her marriage to Kody. Noting that her ex loved when his wives were dolled up—"You had to always, always look nice"—she detailed how that affected her during the April 20 episode.

"No wonder I was constantly wondering and constantly insecure because, as much as I was comparing, he was also comparing all the time," she insisted. "Robyn was up on this pedestal and the rest of us were just lacking. I felt like I was lacking in the relationship."

Kody Brown Wasn't Sure Robyn Brown Was His Soulmate

While Kody and Robyn's union may in fact have been destiny all along, the patriarch once "mocked" the idea of soulmates. Noting she wasn't offended "at all," Robyn insisted on the April 20 episode, "It made complete sense. That word didn't belong in our world."

With him having three other wives at the time, "It's probably okay if you're my soulmate," she detailed, "but not okay if I'm yours."

Either way, said Kody, "That comment she made has flattered me from that day 'til now."

Robyn Brown Wished She and Kody Brown Could Have Shown Affection in Front of the Other Wives

Back when Kody's love was still being multiplied among his four wives, there was a fairly strict anti-PDA rule.

"This was something that they decided before I even came in the family, to not show affection in front of each other," Robyn lamented during the April 27 episode. "And I always saw it as a mistake."

Her reasoning was "it made Kody feel alone, and I think it made each of us wives feel kind of alone," Robyn added. "A husband and wife in a social setting. There's a connection there. They can go up and he'll put his hand on the small of her back or touch her hand, or she'll reach out and fix his hair or kiss him on the cheek or something. It brings comfort to the couple."

Besides, she noted, "It was OK to fight in front of each other. It was OK to sit there and get edgy with each other. But it wasn't OK to show love, support, care, a tender word—that wasn't allowed."

Maddie Brush Would Like to Apologize to Robyn Brown's Kids

Maddie may have divided herself from her father, but the mom of four is still interested in having a relationship with all 17 of her siblings.

"With Kody, it's like, I'm angry at the way things happened, but I can control how I react and how I reciprocate," she explained during the May 18 episode, while chatting with Leon, "and I'm still deciding how I do that." Despite her feelings on their relationship, "I'm sad for him," she noted. "I'm really sad for Robyn's kids."

Given the chance to sit down with Dayton, Aurora or Breanna, she added, "I'd be like, 'I have nothing against you. And if I’ve ever done anything to hurt you, I'm sorry.'"

Kody Brown Said He Had "Way More Respect" for Exes Janelle Brown and Meri Brown Than Christine Brown Woolley

R-E-S-P-E-C-T, viewers found out what it meant to Kody during the first episode of the season-ending one-on-one tell-all May 25. "I think I actually had way more respect for Meri than I did for Janelle," he told host Sukanya of his first and second spouses, "and probably way more respect for Janelle and Meri than I did for Christine, to be fair."

Informed about Kody's confession, Christine told Sukanya, "I'm hoping that there were some times when he did, because I did whatever was needed. So, respected as a mom, respected as a wife, respected just as a person, just as an individual."

As tough as it was to hear, though, "It formed me into who I am now," Christine acknowledged. "So I found respect for myself. Maybe I just realized that he wasn't going to respect me."

Kody Brown Insists Meri Brown Kicked Him Out

Back when Meri was snared up in her catfishing scandal, she threw Kody back into the proverbial sea, he insisted during the May 25 tell-all. Refuting the idea that he stopped showing up to his first wife's house, Kody told Sukanya, "Meri kicked me out. That was the catalyst."

According to Kody, "I was in my bed listening to her giggle on the phone upstairs all night long."

The way he saw it, "There comes a dysfunction in your communication where there's so much animosity, you can't even talk to each other. She asked me to leave. I was kicked to the curb."

Janelle Brown Believes Kody Brown Went Out of His Way to Protect Robyn Brown

"If you don’t die the hero, you live long enough to become the villain," Kody mused on the series' May 25 episode, comparing himself to the titular caped crusader in Batman Returns.

And if you ask Janelle, his super power may just be protecting his sole remaining bride. "I feel like a lot of people want to pin the blame on Robyn and I don't think that she is necessarily innocent in this," she mused to Sukanya during the June 1 episode. Which is why Janelle believes that Kody has "made himself even more villainous, I guess to kind of take away some of the blame from her."

Though she acknowledged, "this is just gospel according to Janelle, like, I don't know," she definitely sensed her ex had grown meaner since their split, adding, "I feel it's a smokescreen."

Still, Janelle didn't buy into the idea that Robyn never wanted to be part of a plural family: "In the very beginning, she was very much part of what we were trying to build."

Christine Brown Woolley Reveals There Was No Emotion in Her Sex Life With Kody Brown

Among the many reasons Christine literally kicked then-husband Kody out of their shared bedroom: Their time together there was "just an act," she detailed to host Sukanya while discussing their sex life on the June 8 one-on-one special. "No real emotion behind it or anything."

Speculating that they were just using one another, she noted that it "didn't mean anything." For them it was simply fulfilling a marital obligation, she added, "just a physical need that was met."

For years, they avoided talking about it, she continued, despite knowing the fact that they were only physical with each other five or so times a year meant "there was something lacking and something missing."

And when she did address it, Christine continued, "It was like, 'Are we going to have any kind of intimacy sex in our marriage?' And he was like, 'No.' And so the next time you come over, I'm like, 'You're done. You're not staying here anymore. I don't want you in my bed. We're done.'"

Janelle Brown Felt Kody Brown's Courtship With Robyn Brown Was Inappropriate

While dating as a married man is a necessity in polygamy, Kody and fourth wife Robyn "had a very long courtship compared to the rest of us," Janelle noted on the June 15 one-on-one special. "It is not really appropriate for a married man to have a long courtship."

And yet, she continued, he and the divorcée "actually courted, I think, for almost a year."

As for the couple's story about feeling a "bolt of lightning" when they first locked eyes at church, it felt very familiar to third wife Christine.

"That's exactly what happened to me," she detailed to host Sukanya. "I looked at him and I'm like, 'Oh my gosh,' you know. I didn't even see him that far. I just knew there was a real connection there, like a bolt of lightning. I am not kidding. Definitely, he used that."

Janelle Brown Insists She's "A Very Sexual Being"

Yes, Janelle is quite ready to get her groove back following her 2022 split from Kody.

While she's not interested in swiping right on any app, she's hoping to meet her ideal man IRL. "Someone who's very solid, who knows who they are," she described to host Sukanya during the June 15 episode. "Not super flashy. I'm kind of done with flashy. Someone who's not so high maintenance, you know. I definitely don't want someone who's such a prima donna."

Also a must for her ideal partner: A physical connection.

"Everybody has this idea just because I didn't want to have assembly line kisses with Kody or whatever, that I was asexual," she explained. "I promise you I'm not asexual."

In fact, insisted the mom of six, "I'm a very sexual being, I’m a very earth Mama."
