Now: Many think Lazenby (the youngest to play Bond at 30) was given the boot due to Majesty‘s poor reception, but producer Albert "Cubby" Broccoli asked him to stay on for another. George had enough with the backlash, so Connery returned for Diamonds Are Forever. Today, he's working on his autobiography, The Other Fella.

Now: The actor died in 2017 at age 89.
Timothy Dalton

Best One: License To Kill (1989)
Now: Before he put on the tux, Americans knew Dalton as Prince Barin from '80s cult classic Flash Gordon. He's been busy in the 2000s, playing villainous roles in Hot Fuzz and Chuck, and was pretty funny as the snooty Mr. Pricklepants in Toy Story 3.
Pierce Brosnan

Best One: Goldeneye (1995)
Now: Since leaving Bond in the hands of Daniel Craig, Brosnan's biggest role was Sam Carmichael, one of three men who may be Amanda Seyfried's dad in Mamma Mia! (2008). This year, he starred in the Danish flick Love Is All You Need.
Woody Allen

Best One: Casino Royale (1967, unofficial)
Now: Before the 2006 Casino Royale became the rebirth of Bond with Craig, this spoof (not part of the official canon) had seven stars in the role of 007. Allen played young Jimmy Bond. This year, Allen's To Rome With Love opened to tepid reviews, but his last film, Midnight In Paris, was his biggest hit ever.
