10. "We R Who We R," Ke$ha
No matter how much Ke$ha may gross us out, we can't stop dancing whenever one of her songs comes on. Sure, we kinda hate ourselves for that but hey, it's not just us—the song debuted at the number on spot on the Billboard Top 100.
9. "Telephone," Lady Gaga feat. Beyoncé
This has all the things we're looking for in our jams: an epic video, a superfierce Beyoncé and killer dance beats. Bonus points for Gaga inspiring us with her Coke can hair rollers!
7. "Dog Days Are Over," Florence + The Machine
While we hate that this song now conjures up images of Julia Roberts Eat Pray Love-ing, there's no denying it's one of those songs that makes you feel bouncy happy. And we can't forget Florence Welch's gorgeous vocals that put you in a trance.
6. "Monster," Kanye West feat. Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross & Bon Iver
Gotta hand it to Kanye for getting so many of the year's biggest artists on one track but then his whole album My Beautfiul Dark Twsted Fantasy is a giant who's who of the music industry. The thing that stands out the most on this jam is Nicki's verse, which may be one of her best. (Tough call, though, her "Bottoms Up" verse is so good!)
5. "Dynamite," Taio Cruz
This song definitely poses a lot of questions. Why does Taio Cruz only throw his hands up in the air sometimes? What does he do the other times? But then that Europop dance beat comes in and you forget about such silly questions and just wanna celebrate.
4. "F--k You," Cee Lo Green
"F--k You" was perfect convergence of so many things. First, there was Cee Lo's upbeat delivery of the phrase in the Motown-inspired jam, then there was the viral video with the snappy graphics and top it all off with a crappy summer that we wanted to tell off and you've got yourself a hit.
3. "Rude Boy," Rihanna
It was a year of jams for Rihanna! "Rude Boy" is easily the best track off her Rated R album and features a more Jamaican sound with scandalous lyrics that extended to our second favorite Riri song of the year, "What's My Name". In between the two was the more Europop-influenced song "Only Girl (In the World)" but we prefer "Rude Boy" Rihanna who is slightly more raunchy and already knows she's the only girl in the world.
2. "OMG," Usher feat. Will.i.am
How can a song with lyrics like "Honey got some boobies like wow, oh wow", still be interesting to listen to? We gotta thank producer Will.i.am for that one. There's just so much going on in it—tempo changes, speed it up, slow it down, handclaps, synths, then slow it all down again. There's dance, pop and R&B all in one song and it all sound so good together.
1. "Teenage Dream," Katy Perry
Less kitschy than Katy's summer jam "California Gurls", which we liked better when it was "Party in the U.S.A.", "Teenage Dream" is as stripped down as Katy Perry gets. We love the retro '80s feel and it's a love song that doesn't feel all sappy. Plus this song really does make you feel young forever and who doesn't want that?
