The Little Black Dress
Every gal knows a solid LBD is a staple, and Di rocked that look professionally. Kate follows in the Lady's fashion footsteps nicely in this department, although we would like to see a little more accessorizing on Kate's part. The black wrap dress the bride-to-be wore last week was so flattering but the complete style was a casual flop. Seriously, Di did the little black thing with so much more formal shoulder-bearing sass. Step it up, Kate, just a tad.
The Athletic Look
It's surprising but the Lady Diana Spencer knew how to tone it down and look common just like the rest of the world, especially when she was working it out on the slopes or swimming at sea. Well, she did throw on a headband here and there but nothing too much. Kate sweats it out real simple. Unless of course, she is showing off one hot bod in a tight, white bikini! Then again that makes us sweat, not vice versa. Still haute/hot, though!
Fluffing the Feathers
Feathers and hats are a royal's best friend. Must say, Kate's head-gear—whether feathers or hats—always look like a force. It's got to be that mane of hers! Di very much took advantage of her short haircut and brought in fun, spunky head accessories like feather and furry hats. Di may have been the original feather lady, but Kate is well on her way to making the look work for her as well. As long as she puts a pin in it!
Keeping it Casual
Sorry Di, but Wills' new woman takes the title here. The difference is Diana always looked like she was trying even when she was supposed to be playing it casual-cool with the trends. Kate's almost overly carefree with some outfits, but that's why her informal fashion can be not even the slightest bit eye-popping. Still what's making Kate's cas über fab is her utter modesty with moda. We know underneath that denim Middleton sure has the legs of a goddess but she's not acting it. It's that anti Di-like swag that makes Kate's casual border line couture.
Red Coat of Arms
While we all died for the beaut of a Burberry coat Kate wore a few months back, we love to see her fully mimic Di's coat fetish more than anything else. No doubt Diana's color was red and only red—it brought out every glowing feature and was so anti-royal. Loved it! Kate is very much playing it safe with her red tones, as well as the coats. We get it though, don't want to be too fashion forward—it may be overbearing and over-wearing.
The Plaid Look
No surprise, Di went big and never went home. Even when she was dressing for a royal engagement she made certain to dress appropriately for her cultured company. The take of her fashion minion Kate is way more subtle, and we are not surprised. Of course, Kate is just walking around London sporting a sexy, plaid, skirt but for once it's nice to see she can coordinate an outfit and not take it overboard. Sometimes you just can't overdue pattern, even if you were Princess Di.
The Sex Bomb Look
We all know the love story of Wills & Kate. Love at first sight of hot damn lingerie! As hard as Princess Di tries to back-pose here, Kate you win, over and over again. Mostly because you make skanky look totally acceptable, even by ancient palace standards!
The Pretty-in-Pink Look
Kate's thin, lengthy body looks good in any formal wear, but who knew Diana could look so fierce yet pretty in pink? Every princess, past or future, should be able to pull off a full on pink number. Still, we would say Di's got Kate beat here since she is sporting a tiara with her pastel pink dress. You will have that accessory of a lifetime soon enough, Middleton!
The Picture-Perfect Look
It's only fitting we end with a total tie in the engagement pic arena. While we aren't really feeling Diana's fussy, aristocratic sheer turtle-neck, she still looks stunning. As does Kate, who—besides looking beyond in love—looks darling in ivory and not to mention that sapphire! But, pretty sure we can all agree that Kate's locks are no royal hair-mess. We'll take flowy hair over pushy, flowy tops any day. Di's the only royal who will ever own the hot, boyish haircut look and that's fashion fact.
