Katy Perry

Katy Perry totally rocked this retro bombshell look! She reminded us of Betty Boop with the big doe eyes, black curls and fire engine red lips.  We loved her dramatic lashes and sculpted brows, though we do wish she had worn a little bit more blush since her complexion is so light.

Taylor Swift

Look who's all grown up… Taylor Swift finally gave up the sweet tart loose curls and waves she wears to every red carpet and opted for sexy "I've been romping in bed all night" hair.  She also finally retired the standard black eyeliner and let her makeup artist give her sultry bronzy smoked eyes.

Lady Gaga

And once again, Lady Gaga channels Donatella Versace. We get why she wore the long blond wig for the Versace campaign – she was being paid to do it. Did Donatella offer her more money to show up to the AMAs in the same get-up? We would like to think the diva didn't choose to look more like bad Halloween than avant-garde.

Jordin Sparks

Was Jordin Sparks running late and came straight from the studio?  It looks like the songstress literally slicked her hair back in a ponytail, dragged black eyeliner along her upper lash line, and slapped on some mascara and nude lipstick. Listen, she's a beautiful girl but we would have liked to see a little bit more effort for an awards show.

Rihanna

We just didn't get the hair.  Not only was it wrapped around her head like a turban but she had those visible long hair pins. It was like her hair was pinned for a wig that she forgot to put on. No bueno. It really took away from her flawless skin and perfect black cat eye.

Miley Cyrus

We totally appreciate that Miley Cyrus is going for a more natural look (and that she's keeping her tongue in her mouth).  But, since she's wearing all white and her face is devoid of any color, we wish she had at least worn a little red on her lips or perhaps colored eyeliner.  She's also wearing way too much mascara, especially on her lower lashes, and her eyebrow pencil is a bit heavy-handed.

Zoe Saldana

We're just going to come out and say it… We think Zoe needs to fire her makeup artist.  That dark eye makeup couldn't be more unflattering – it totally weighed down her eyes, making her look heavy lidded. Also, looking at the shine in her t-zone, she clearly wasn't wearing primer or mattifying skincare.  We did love the shine in her hair though… That blowout was perfection except for the few flyaways at the crown.

Naya Rivera

What a shock… Naya looked like a drag queen.  As usual, the Glee starlet over-contoured her cheeks, wore way too much eye makeup and false lashes and made her hair look like a wig.  It's gotten to the point where she needs an intervention.

Ciara

You don't need us to say this… Ciara looked hot! Showing off her flattering new bob, the songstress wore smoldering glossy eye shadow with a pale pink lip. To make this look really pop on the red carpet, her makeup artist applied silver eye shadow over her eyeliner on both the upper and lower lash lines.

Christina Aguilera

First of all, we couldn't tell if this was really Xtina on the red carpet or the Madam Tussauds wax museum version of her.  We weren't able to decide if this synthetic look was more porn queen or drag queen – either way this pretty girl needs to ease up on the heavy contouring and fake lashes. Though, we will give her props for the peachy coral lip-gloss which looked stunning with her platinum blond hair.

Jennifer Hudson

We obviously loved J.Hud's pop of electric blue on her eyes to complement her new choppy pixie cut. The gold eye shadow above the blue winged eyeliner gave this look a fun, retro appeal. Get the Look: Makeup Artist Shannon Pezzetta used Lancôme Artliner 24H in Sapphire to create Jennifer's blue winged eye and applied golden bronze shadow from the Lancôme Kissed By Gold eye shadow and liner palette above the blue liner.
