Neve Campbell's Husband Files for Divorce

Party of Five star's marriage ends after four-month separation

Jeffrey Colt, husband of Party of Five and Scream star Neve Campbell, filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court Thursday. The couple has been separated since July.

Colt, a 33-year-old aspiring actor, cited irreconcilable differences for ending the two-and-a-half-year-old marriage to Campbell, 23.

Campbell and Colt met eight years ago in Toronto. Colt was tending bar in the theater housing a production of Phantom of the Opera; Campbell was a performer in the company. They married hastily in April 1994--Campbell was forced to move to L.A. to start work on Party of Five, and since Colt was a Canadian citizen sans green card, a quickie wedding was necessary for the couple to remain together.

Campbell seemed prescient in a People magazine article last year. "If we grow apart, that's a circumstance we'll deal with." One reason for the couple's marital woes: disparate career success. Campbell's a budding superstar in Tinseltown; Colt's still looking for a steady acting gig.

Campbell has recently been spotted in Hollywood with Scream costar Matthew Lillard (Skeet Ulrich's insane stabbing buddy in the film).
