Lauren Sanchez is blaming it on the lace.
After Jeff Bezos’ fiancée raised eyebrows with her white bustier peeking out of a matching blazer at Donald Trump’s 2025 Inauguration Jan. 20, she reacted to Whitney Cummings’ hilarious Instagram post defending her honor.
“We are not gonna hate on this woman, she is a business woman and her decisions have gotten her this far,” Whitney said in the video posted Jan. 21. “I respect this woman’s judgement. We all wish we had it, let’s be honest.”
Rather than hating on Lauren’s outfit, the 42-year-old instead identified a clear culprit responsible for the controversial look.
“I don’t blame her,” the Two Broke Girls creator continued. “I blame white lace. White lace always looks cheap.”
But while she could relate to the betrayal of white lace, Whitney couldn’t help but sneak in one joke towards Lauren’s inauguration attire.
“Thoughts and prayers,” she quipped. “She’s with the head of Amazon, and she looks like she got that top on Temu.”
As for how Lauren—who has been in a relationship with Bezos since 2019—reacted to Whitney’s video? She took the joke in stride, leaving a single red heart in the comments. Others, though, were less playful when voicing their opinions on Lauren’s monochromatic look. Indeed, Fox News alum Megyn Kelly did not hold back when sharing her opinion.
“Have some dignity and some respect for your setting in your circumstances,” Megyn said on the Jan. 21 episode of her SiriusXM show. “No one should be talking about your t-ts. Sorry. They should be talking about the inauguration.”
But despite what anyone had to say about her inauguration outfit, the 55-year-old has been blocking out the noise by focusing on the supporters in the comments of her recent Instagram posts.
“Girl you ate that inaugural look,” one commenter said on her Jan. 20 post, earning a like from Lauren, “don’t pay attention to no haters.”
And while social media was buzzing about Lauren’s ‘fit, First Lady Melania Trump’s look garnered quite a bit of attention as well, with her gigantic boater hat designed by Eric Javits and navy suit by Adam Lippes. In fact, the hat was so big that the 47th President of the United States couldn’t help himself from joking about it himself.
“We went out to the helicopter just prior to this and said goodbye,” Trump told the crowd inside the Capitol Rotunda as his wife looked on from the stage. “The wind is blowing like crazy, and with the hat that she’s wearing, she almost blew away.”
“We almost lost her,” he joked. “She was being elevated off the ground. She almost blew away.”
And as memes spread across the internet, Eric relished the opportunity to play a role in dressing the new FLOTUS.
“It was my great honor and privilege to create the hat our First Lady, Melania Trump wore for the inaugural swearing in of our 47th President,” he wrote in a post on Instagram Jan. 20. “She has the inner grace, beauty and presence to transform what was really a very simple, restrained hat style into what became a ‘wow’ moment. The First Lady’s hat was made with love.”
