Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter Maddie Watson isn’t worried about her freshman 101s.
After all, the 17-year-old—whom Jamie Lynn shares with ex-fiancé Casey Aldridge—recently started her senior year of high school, and she offered a look into her special day.
In her Aug. 19 Instagram post, Maddie proudly held her “first day of 12th grade” flag while wearing her school’s uniform. After taking a few solo shots, she posed with her friends and her two biggest supporters: her youngest sister Ivey, 6, and their mom. Indeed, the teen shared a sweet photo of her and the Zoey 101 star attending a gathering in her high school’s courtyard.
Meanwhile, Ivey—who looks just like her aunt Britney Spears—showed her oldest sibling some love at home. As Maddie fittingly described the occasion, “last first day.”
This isn’t the first time Maddie has shared a glimpse into her high school life. In fact, she gushed over her junior year prom in April, from showing off her lilac gown to hanging out with her date. She also dressed to the nines at her homecoming last September, sporting a pink Legally Blonde-inspired jacket and skirt set.
Though the teen is looking towards her future, she’s also briefly reflected on some harrowing moments from her past, including when she crashed her ATV into a pond at her family’s Louisiana home in 2017.
“I did have an accident,” she explained in her Aug. 12 YouTube video. “I was in a coma and I came back to life, and I’m very blessed.”
And now that she’s healed from the near-fatal accident, Jamie Lynn—who also posted her daughter’s video on her Instagram—noted that she’s “so proud” of Maddie for persevering through that dark time.
“You can’t control everything that happens to you, but you can decide how you react to what happens to you,” the Sweet Magnolias alum wrote. “I’m so proud of this kid, she never lets anything or anyone sit her down, and sharing her journey through it all hopefully inspires others to never stop going hard for what they want out of life.”
