Jennifer Lopez is keeping it real when it comes to her kids’ emotional milestones.
The “Waiting for Tonight” singer marked her and Marc Anthony’s 17-year-old son Max’s first day of his senior year of high school by showing off his musical talent.
In a Aug. 28 Instagram video, Jennifer walks into her son’s room as he belts out Lucus Graham’s “7 Years” while sitting in his bed. In honor of the throwback video, dedicated to her teen she wrote, “How does 10 years go by so fast? So proud of you Maxi. 1st day of senior year. I love you beyond forever.”
Jennifer—who shares Max and his twin Emme with ex-husband Marc—has celebrated their milestones all week. In a since-expired Aug. 25 Instagram Story, Jlo, 56, gave Emme an equally emotional send off to senior year.
“I just dropped this little coconut to their first day of senior year,” the “On the Floor” singer wrote alongside a throwback of Emme sleeping in her arms. “Looking back at this photo from a few years ago, it just reminds me that they’ll always be my beautiful baby.”
Prior to the twins’ return to school, Max and Emme soaked up the sun with their mom during beach getaway in the Hamptons. In a clip shared on Instagram, Emme proved to be Jennifer’s mini-me as the duo’s hair blew in the wind while being driven around by a friend.
And according to Jennifer, Max and Emme aren’t fooled or fazed by the rocks that she got.
“I'm so just mom to them that they don’t really get involved with my work too much,” she told E! News in May. “They don't even know I'm doing the American Music Awards. I have to fill them in when we're having dinner.”
“We’re talking more about school,” she added. “We’re talking about their friends at school and their homework and making sure they're getting their stuff done. That's our conversations, and how they're doing and how they're feeling and all that.”
