You can take the boy out of the bayou, but he may bring a piece of the bayou to Paris Fashion Week.

Lana Del Rey made a rare appearance with her husband Jeremy Dufrene Oct. 5 at the spring 2026 Valentino show—and the loved-up couple proved that there's no need to twin to look like a matching set.

The "Summertime Sadness" singer, a longtime friend of Valentino creative director Alessandro Michele, led the excursion in a spaghetti-strap chiffon gown with a ruched bodice and fur sleeves, her essentials tucked in an embroidered handbag. Meanwhile, Dufrene, a swamp tour guide in his native Louisiana, was giving denim-on-denim in a navy shirt jacket and cargo pants trimmed with gold buttons, his sunglasses perched upside-down on the brim of his baseball cap.

The couple—who made it a double date with Del Rey's photographer sister Caroline Grant—just celebrated their first wedding anniversary Sept. 26.

Del Rey, 40, and Dufrene, 50, tied the knot last year just weeks after she brought him as her date to model Karen Elson and Lee Foster's New York nuptials, their de facto public debut.

And if you're wondering how exactly the 11-time Grammy nominee hooked up with Dufrene, who still runs alligator-watching tours when he's not traveling with his wife, we can shed some light on their love story.

Who is Lana Del Rey's husband Jeremy Dufrene?

Dufrene hails from Des Allemands, an unincorporated community in southern Louisiana's St. Charles Parish that had a population of 2,179 as of 2020 and is known as the "Catfish Capital of the Universe."

And that's where he famously (since meeting a certain singer) plies his trade as a captain for Airboat Tours by Arthur, zipping tourists through marshland and swamps where, the business' website notes, highlights include seeing alligators "up close & personal" before they burrow during the colder months.

Before getting his captain's license, Dufrene—a father of two daughters and a son from a previous relationship—worked at a chemical plant and did some shrimping in his spare time, according to his company bio, but now "loves interacting with wildlife & customers."

Speaking of which...

How did Lana del Rey meet alligator tour guide Jeremy Dufrene?

Native New Yorker Del Rey met her future husband on one of his tours in March 2019 when she was in town for the BUKU Music + Art Project festival in New Orleans.

“I never know who I can run across on my tours but always a pleasure @lanadelrey," Dufrene posted on Instagram, while she shared some photos from the excursion on Facebook, writing, "Jeremy lemme be captain at Arthur’s Air Boat Tours x."

It turned out the celebrity sighting wasn't just good for business.

They didn't reconnect for a few yearsDel Rey released three albums in the interim, 2021's Chemtrails Over the County Club and Blue Banisters, as well as 2023's Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard—but she sparked new-romance rumors when she posted a photo showing a man's hands around her waist in March 2024.

That was followed by a May photo captioned, "Family w my guy @jeremy.dufrene."

She has since settled in Louisiana with Dufrene, though they make frequent trips to Los Angeles together.

"When we met, I realized pretty immediately that I loved him, but that it might get difficult because of what I was bringing to the table," Del Rey told W in an interview published Aug. 26. "Jeremy said, ‘I work with alligators—I have tough skin.’ And he is a man of his word. All the things that made me upset—and there were so many!—he would just listen and say, ‘You be you—and I’ll just love you more.'"

Known for her hurts-so-good lyrics, she has always cherished the love in her life, even when it didn't work out.

"I never thought I'd have the luxury of loving someone and being loved," Del Rey told the BBC in 2012. "But when it happened, it really was what they talked about in the movies."

And, when it's over, she noted, "You should honor love, even when it's lost."

But Dufrene wasn't planning on letting her go.

When did Lana del Rey marry Jeremy Dufrene?

Del Rey wed the outdoorsman on Sept. 26, 2024, in a bayou ceremony in Des Allemands.

Their marriage license signed and filed the following month with the Lafourche Parish Clerk of Court listed L.A.-based pastor Judah Smith as their officiant.

"Just want to wish my precious bride a Happy 1st year Anniversary," Dufrene wrote on Instagram last month in a rare personal post, both he and his wife sharing a carousel of never-before-seen photos from their wedding day. "A lifetime of love and happy tears to go."

Among the photos were snaps of his bride in her Disney princess-reminiscent gown, and their cake, which was decorated with an image of a cozy-looking cabin set amid moss-draped trees. Guests included Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley.

"I had a dream of a giant family and a happy life," Del Rey told W. "I had to quiet the noise to find love. And I did."

However, that didn't mean she was able to turn the volume down completely right away.

“If I was him, I would have been nervous—my emotions were more overwhelming than usual, and my usual emotions can be quite overwhelming!” Del Rey said of projecting her concerns about marrying into fame onto her husband. “But Jeremy was fine. He said, ‘If you want, worry about yourself, but don’t worry about me!'"

Yet while he's created a whole new comfort zone for the Born to Die artist, she still isn't tempting fate in at least one way.

"Jeremy swims with the alligators!" she shared. "I swim in the bayou also, and the alligators are there, but I don’t swim alone."

Has Lana Del Rey written any songs about husband Jeremy Dufrene?

The singer has confirmed that "Stars Fell on Alabama"—initially introduced as "Husband of Mine" when she debuted it live—off of her upcoming album Stove is, in fact, about that husband of hers.

Not that we needed to call in a musicologist with lyrics like, "Down by the bayou by you / Where the baby alligators play /No one talks to me like you do / Or takes care of us so good this way."

She explained to W, "Jeremy is the most impactful person in my life. He’s quiet in public, but around me he talks all the time...You might be really weird to some people, but then you find another soul who feels the same way."

And showing he's always up for an adventure, Dufrene even accompanied her to the wilds of Paris Fashion Week. See more stars who made the scene in the City of Light:
