It really was about Braxton Berrios' football schedule.
Amid his recent breakup from Alix Earle, the Houston Texans wide receiver is doubling down on why he never came to support the TikToker in person while she competed on season 34 of Dancing With the Stars.
After returning to Instagram Dec. 11 by posting a photo of himself with the cheeky caption, "What did I miss?" fans flooded the comments with not-so-subtle responses including one user who wrote, "every single performance of alixs," to which he responded very clearly.
"I would've been at every one if I could've," he said, "sadly I can't travel like that in-season."
Braxton added to another fan that he "would've loved to" be there for Alix. When a third commenter said that he missed "a first class ticket to LA" to visit his TikToker girlfriend while she filmed DWTS in Los Angeles during the Texans' bye week, he revealed, "That's exactly where I went for bye week."
The 30-year-old also clarified in the comments that his original post "was absolutely not supposed to be" shady towards Alix.
Braxton's explanation for being absent from DWTS all season reflects what Alix had previously said, telling a fan on TikTok last month that "he couldn't come bc of football."
And while he never made it to support the social media star in the ballroom, the NFL player had appeared on the Nov. 25 season finale, during which he offered her words of encouragement in a pre-recorded video.
“I've watched you pour everything into this since the moment it has started, and I think it shows,” Braxton said in the clip. “Good luck. Have fun, babe.”
After Alix and Braxton's split was confirmed by multiple outlets, she gave a peek into her post-breakup mindset, sharing that she has been questioning her own behavior.
“Is my frontal lobe developing,” she captioned a Dec. 10 TikTok video of herself laying in bed, “bc I’m about to turn 25 and usually stress abt having the biggest party but all I want to do is workout, meditate, play card games & have good convos with the ppl closest to me.”
The 24-year-old added, “Either I’m maturing or just rlly going thru it…maybe both.”
