Demi Moore is keeping a positive outlook on her ex-husband Bruce Willis’ condition.
Demi, 61, opened up about the Die Hard star’s battle with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia years after he was initially diagnosed.
"You know, I've said this before. The disease is what the disease is,” the A Few Good Men actress said on Oct. 13 while speaking with a crowd at the 2024 Hamptons International Film Festival per People. “And I think you have to be in real deep acceptance of what that is. But for where he's at, he is stable."
Demi, who shares Rumer Willis, 36, Scout Willis, 33, and Tallulah Willis, 30, with her ex, repeated her advice to her and Bruce’s daughters, saying, "What I always encourage is to just meet them where they're at. When you're holding on to what was, I think it's a losing game. But when you show up to meet them where they're at, there is great beauty and sweetness."
And despite her split from Bruce, 67, in 2000, Demi noted that she still gets plenty of quality time with her ex, who remarried Emma Heming Willis in 2009. After all, the blended Willis family, which also includes Bruce and Emma’s daughters Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10, have shared plenty of glimpses into their sweet bond over the years.
“I was there two days ago with my granddaughter,” Demi said, referencing Rumer’s 17-month-old daughter Louetta. “And being able to share with whatever we have, for however long we have it.”
The family went public with Bruce’s diagnosis in 2022, revealing that he was stepping away from acting as he battled frontotemporal dementia. Since then, they’ve kept fans up to date on his well-being.
“He’s doing stable, which in this situation is good, and it’s hard,” Tallulah said during a Sept. 18 appearance on the Today show. “There’s painful days, but there’s so much love. And it’s really shown me to not take any moment for granted.”
Shortly after, Tallulah shared sweet photos of herself and her dad to Instagram on Sept. 30, writing, “Hey I love this guy so much and feeling feelings is tough stuff, but I’m so grateful to let them flow through me now instead of disconnecting from it! From the forever archives.”
