When it comes to raising kids, Nicole Richie loves it.
In fact, the Simple Life alum—who shares daughter Harlow, 16, and son Sparrow, 15, with husband Joel Madden—called being a mom to two teens “so wild and fun” as she reflected on her own adolescent days.
“I just so clearly remember what it’s like to be a teenager,” she told Glamour in an interview published Dec. 5. “It feels like it happened yesterday for me.”
Fans certainly remember the 43-year-old’s wilder days thanks to her time on the iconic series, in which she starred alongside Paris Hilton. And as Nicole’s kids discover the early aughts hit—which aired for five seasons from 2003 to 2007—she said she embraces their curiosity about her younger days.
“They know everything I did,” she went on. “I knew before I had them that I was going to have to be transparent with them about who I was. And I’ve actually found freedom in that. I didn’t want my kids having some big discovery about me.”
The House of Harlow founder added, “I’ve always been very open and honest with my kids and hope that they are open and honest with me.”
Nicole previously discussed her kids’ interest in her reality TV past, revealing they had a big influence in her decision to reteam with her longtime BFF for the upcoming Peacock original series Paris & Nicole: The Encore.
“They were a part of me doing this reunion,” she told E! News in November. “They watch it. Their friends watch it. It's having a moment on TikTok, and it's been very sweet having them watch it.”
