A tragic revelation has been made in the case of missing sisters Eliza Huszti and Henrietta Huszti

At around 7:55 a.m. local time Jan. 31, police recovered the body of a person in the River Dee, very close to the last location where the sisters—who were part of a set of triplets—were last seen Jan. 7

“While the woman is yet to be formally identified,” police said in a statement obtained by People, “the family of Henrietta Huszti, 32, who had been reported missing in the area on Tuesday, 7 January, has been informed.”

The authorities’ statement emphasized that it still remains unclear whether they recovered the body of Henrietta or Eliza.

“Police Scotland was made aware of the body of a person seen in the River Dee near Queen Elizabeth Bridge in Aberdeen,” the statement continued. “The body has since been recovered from the water. Inquiries are at an early stage and identification is yet to take place.”

E! News has reached out to Scotland Police regarding the recovered body but has not yet heard back.

Although a body has been recovered in the River Dee, authorities had confirmed the search for the women near the waterway had been called off earlier this week.

"Extensive and detailed searches have been carried out of the River Dee and the Harbour area," local superintendent David Howieson said in a statement obtained by People Jan. 29, “these searches have now concluded at this time, but inquiries will be ongoing to trace Eliza and Henrietta.”

And while the sisters had mysteriously vanished in the area, Howieson added, “I would again stress there is nothing to suggest any suspicious circumstances or criminality.”

The sisters were last seen in CCTV footage in the middle of the night on Jan. 7. Shortly after their disappearance, the women’s landlady shared the final text she had received from them before their phones were disconnected, where they indicated, per a press release issued by Scotland Police, “they would not be returning to the flat."
