Victoria’s Secret is not keeping its website issue under wraps.
Indeed, the intimates seller shut down its website the evening of May 28, sharing the company was dealing with a “security issue.”
“Valued customer, we identified and are taking steps to address a security incident,” the retailer wrote on its website May 29. “We have taken down our website and some in store services as a precaution.”
Although Victoria’s Secret executives did not specify what kind of security issue they were dealing with, they ensured they would be up and running again as soon as possible.
“Our team is working around the clock to fully restore operations. We appreciate your patience during this process,” the statement continued. “In the meantime, our Victoria’s Secret and PINK stores remain open and we look forward to serving you.”
Victoria’s Secret website issue comes less than a year after the brand’s big comeback with its fashion show return for the first time since its 2019 cancellation.
Although the fashion show’s brief hiatus was preceded by a slew of backlash against the lack of inclusivity by not only the show, but the brand itself, CFO of then-parent company L Brands Stuart Burgdoerfer stated the decision came from a perspective to “evolve the marketing” for Victoria’s Secret, citing that the annual show gave no impact on sales.
However, the decision was ceremoniously undone in 2024, three years after Victoria’s Secret spun off of L Brand’s ownership to be a standalone company.
“We’ve read the comments and heard you,” Victoria’s Secret wrote in an Instagram post last May announcing the return of the fashion show. “Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is BACK and will reflect who we are today, plus everything you know and love—the glamour, runway, wings, musical entertainment, and more! Stay tuned…it only gets more iconic from here.”
And iconic it did become. After all, the show saw supermodel Adriana Lima’s first grand return to the runway since 2018.
“It’s so exciting because this is where everything started for me back in 1999,” Adriana gushed to E! News while prepping for the show in October. “I don’t know. It’s insane—it’s crazy.”
