Details about a body discovered at Long Island's Montauk Yacht Club have come to light.
Martha Nolan-O'Slatarra, a Manhattan-based fashion designer, was found dead on a boat docked at the exclusive marina on Aug. 5, the Suffolk County Police Department confirmed in a press release.
East Hampton Town Police responded to a 911 call made by a man who found the 33-year-old woman unconscious around midnight. Despite others attempting to administer CPR on Nolan-O’Slatarra, per authorities, she was pronounced dead on the boat.
Suffolk PD shared that since her cause of death was determined as inconclusive during the preliminary investigation, an autopsy will be conducted for further information.
The Montauk Yacht Club, a 16-acre waterfront property, expressed its condolences following her death.
"We are saddened to learn of the tragic incident that took place," a spokesperson told CBS News. "Our team is cooperating with law enforcement in their ongoing investigation and remains committed to the safety and well-being of our guests and staff."
Nolan-O'Slatarra’s fashion brand East x East—which focuses on swimsuits and resortwear—opened a pop-up location nearly two months earlier at Gurney's Montauk Resort and Seawater Spa, just six miles from the yacht club.
For the designer, her company was a love letter to New York City and the East End of Long Island.
"Our tagline is built in the city, made for the sun," Nolan-O'Slatarra explained in a TikTok video last April. "I think it resonates with so many people on so many levels because at some point, everyone in their lives is grinding, but everyone's destined for the sun."
She quipped, "I know I am, and pretty much everyone else is, so I think it was very fitting."
For Nolan-O'Slatarra, who grew up in Ireland, moving to New York was essential in her entrepreneurial journey.
"I was the small town girl who needed to get out to achieve her big dreams," she told the Irish Independent that February. "I always knew I wanted to be successful, that I was money-driven, business-driven, and that fashion is a tough industry and it would be a slow road."
Although her adventures brought a new group of friends in the U.S., she noted that her hometown friends in Carlow were "still my crew."
