Meghan Markle is unbothered as ever.

After the Duchess of Sussex donned a one-shoulder green gown originally worn in a 2022 Variety photo shoot in her upcoming holiday episode of With Love, Meghan, comments made by a journalist on a 2024 podcast accusing her of not returning garments from a past photography session resurfaced.

However, Meghan’s rep firmly shut down speculation surrounding the $1,695 Galvan “Ushuaia” dress and how she came to possess it.

"The insinuation that any items were taken without the full knowledge and agreement of the on-set stylists or their respective teams is not only categorically false, but also highly defamatory,” a spokesperson for Meghan told E! News in a statement. “Any items kept were done so in total transparency and in accordance with contractual arrangements."

The Suits alum—who shares kids Archie, 6, and Lilibet, 4, with husband Prince Harry—has long spoken about how she’s tried to be intentional when it comes to her designer digs, especially when she was an active member of the royal family.

“You know, there was a long time where…I wasn’t out talking,” she explained on The Jamie Kern Lima Show in April. “So, if you couldn’t hear me, how could I be heard through what I was wearing if that was what people were focusing on?"

Another bonus of her deliberate style is being able to amplify different voices in fashion. As Meghan put it, it’s “really great when, specifically, it can help uplift brands that have a great ethos and female founders.”

The As ever founder also takes pride in being able to spread awareness about small and large designers alike.

“Times where I know there is a global spotlight, and attention will be given to each detail of what I may or may not be wearing,” she told The New York Times in August 2024, “then I support designers that I have really great friendships with, and smaller, up-and-coming brands that haven’t gotten the attention that they should be getting.”

“That’s one of the most powerful things that I’m able to do,” Meghan added, “and that’s simply wearing an earring.”
