Emilie Kiser’s family are leaning on love.
Seven months after the influencer and husband Brady Kiser’s 3-year-old son Trigg died from an accidental drowning in their backyard pool while home with Brady, Emilie shared her family feels nothing but love for her husband.
In the comment section of a TikTok in which Emily documented spending time in California with her family over Christmas, a user asked, “How does your family deal with your husband? Are they polite? Are they angry? What are their feelings?”
To which Emilie replied, “My entire family loves him so much. If anything their unwavering love for him and Trigg, is something that has helped us so much to come together as a family.”
While Emilie stayed away from social media in the immediate months following Trigg’s death in May, since her return to TikTok in September, the 26-year-old—who is also mom to 8-month-old son Theodore Kiser with Brady—has shared insight into how she and her family are navigating the heartbreaking loss.
“I have missed getting to chat with you guys every day,” Emilie told fans upon her return to social media. “I really do love this community that we have here, and I hope that in coming back and sharing what I choose to, I can reconnect with you guys and, hopefully, help anyone going through a similar situation.”
And though she acknowledged she isn’t going to pretend in her content that “things are fine and dandy,” she added, “This is really therapeutic for me. I miss talking to you guys, but I don’t know what that’s going to fully look like. I don’t know how much I’m going to be willing to share, especially about my grief journey.”
In the time since, Emilie has shared an honest look into how she’s navigated the loss—and the ups and downs of her journey.
“I just got out of a 2 hour long counseling session (longest I have ever done) and it was heavy but also so helpful,” she wrote in a post on her Instagram Story Oct. 24. “We talked about so many things, but one of them being overall emotions and the guilt of sometimes having them.”
For Emilie, the guilt occurs when she’s feeling more positive emotions.
“One of the hardest parts of loss, other than the loss itself, is allowing yourself to feel happy again,” she explained. “Allowing yourself to not have an emotion about every emotion. Just having that emotion whether it's sad, happy, angry, guilty, shame, hurt, and really sitting with it and being okay with it.”
And for those possibly navigating similar challenges, she added, “Sending love to anyone going through similar battles right now.”
