Nicole Kidman has made sure that the demands of her career haven't gotten in the way of being able to raise her daughters.
The Undoing actress—who share daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14, with Keith Urban, from whom she's now getting a divorce—once opened up about how she balanced motherhood with all of the travel that being an actress demands of her, noting that she often brings Sunday and Faith with her to projects that film on location around the world.
"I'm willing to travel, which a lot of people are not," Nicole told L'Officiel in September 2024. "My kids are willing to travel…maybe less so now [that they’re older], but they're very interested in the world, too. They say they've got so many stamps on their passport, more than most people that are in their eighties."
"That's because when they were little, they lived in Morocco," she shared of the country where she filmed 2015's Queen of the Desert, "and then we went to the Algerian Desert, where they were riding camels and in the souks for three and a half months. They've lived in France, Australia, England, Scotland, Ireland, Asia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, all over."
Being able to travel with her children while she worked wasn't always something she envisioned she would be able to do, either. In fact, the Oscar winner—who also shares Bella Kidman Cruise, 32, and Connor Cruise, 30, with ex Tom Cruise—once figured that she'd have to give up her career in order to be a devoted mother.
"When I gave birth to Sunday, I was like, ‘I think I’m pretty much done now,’” Nicole told CBS Sunday Morning in Dec. 2024. “I’d moved to Nashville, we were living on a farm, and that’s when my mum actually said, ‘I wouldn’t give up completely. Keep a finger in it.’”
Also in the documents was a statement of commitment for the couple—who won't be paying one another child support—to co-parent in a cordial manner.
“The mother and father will behave with each other and each child so as to provide a loving, stable, consistent and nurturing relationship with the child even though they are divorced,” the docs stated. “They will not speak badly of each other or the members of the family of the other parent. They will encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families.”
Nicole's resurfaced comments come as she officially filed to end her marriage with Keith in Nashville Sept. 30 after 19 years. The filing also comes as she had been living separately from Keith "since the beginning of summer," around the time he started his world tour, E! previously learned.
As part of her divorce filing, the Big Little Lies actress asked to be the “primary residential parent” for their teenage daughters while laying out a proposed custody schedule as part of the “Permanent Parenting Plan," which would involve the girls spending 306 days a year with their mother, and 59 days with their father, with Keith having the children every other weekend.

July 24, 2025: It's Revealed That Nicole Kidman Applied for Residency in Portugal
E! News learned that the Practical Magic star had submitted application to become a resident of Portugal, with Urban preparing to do the same himself.
“Keith was unable to be in Portugal for this appointment as he is currently on tour in the U.S.," a source with knowledge of the situation told E!, "and it is mandatory for applicants to be physically present in order to apply for the visa. He is scheduled to submit his application at a later date that works with his tour schedule."
At the time, the source said both planned to maintain a permanent residence in Nashville as well.

The couple's eldest daughter Sunday Rose shed light on on their parenting dynamic in an interview, saying that "there are two big rules" at home.

Urban moved forward with their Marital Dissolution Agreement, getting it notorized in August, per the doc obtained by E! News.
The document said that Kidman would "institute divorce proceedings against" him due to irreconcilable differences. It also stated that neither party would be getting alimony or spousal support in their split.
The same date, he also signed off on the Parenting Plan.
Sept. 6, 2025: Nicole Kidman Signs Paperwork
A week after Urban, the actress had the Marital Dissolution Agreement notorized as well and signed the Parenting Plan.
